Well done to all the people who attended the Comedy Workshops earlier this year.

The standard of talent was very high, as would be expected of the Wirral.

The series of workshops and one-to-one writing sessions led to an

open spot at a comedy gig along side experienced comedians.

Particular praise goes to Colin (The Kid) McCauly, who performed for the first time.

Colin's act was very popular with the big audience at the George, Bebington.

Colin is famed for being Ricky Hatton's first ever professional fight.

Colin made the crowd cry with laughter as he recounted stories of his boxing career.

Ian Kenyon

Also performing was workshop attendee and new comedian Ian Kenyon.

Ian delivered a real gem of a routine about 'things you didn't know you knew'

as well as sharing some of his unique insights into the human condition.

The event was supported by Wirral Borough Council and

the Liverpool Culture Company.

Sam Harland compered and Steve Porter and Ben Rogers supported  the acts.

The whole workshop process was recorded in pictures

by the Wallasey Amateur Photographic
Society

as part of an exhibition for

Wirral Culture for All 08

You can see more local live stand-up at the George every month.

The Express Comedy Workshops project was funded by Wirral Council's Culture for All campaign

which is supported by the Liverpool Culture Company as part of the 2008 European Capital of Culture programme.
